The tag factory=* is used to specify the type of factory (a facility where goods are made, or processed). This tag is added to another main feature tag such as landuse=industrial + industrial=factory.
Another more common method of tagging this information is to use product=* to specify the product of a man_made=works or landuse=industrial. For the latter, industrial=* is also used.
