So I wanted to gift an old friend his old world of Warcraft character. I found WoW model viewer that lets you export most game assets as OBJ files.
Works as expected, apart from the fact that when moving to STL (through Blender) they go super blocky when opened in the slicer. Apart from Cura, which for some reason smoothes the model as Blender does.
The problem is: I want to resin print obviously, so Cura isn't the tool for that.
Any ideas on how to increase the polygon count on that model so it's less blocky? Blender has modifiers like subdivision, but they don't seem to carry over when exporting to STL (yes, I ticked the "Apply modifiers" when exporting to STL).
I don't know much (or anything) about 3D models... I am guessing something should be done in Blender, but I don't know what.
I tried some random bust character I found and imported it in Chitubox and it's not blocky at all, it's perfectly smooth and human looking. So it's not a limit of Chitubox or the STL format.
