I am new to the arduino uno, and downloaded the arduino IDE 2.0.3. I tried running the example code "Blink", the verification works, but when I upload, I get this "error: exit status 1" message. The full message is:

I checked the port and selected the correct board. Also, tried to separate cables to connect to laptop, but still got that error. Can someone please help me figure out why it is not working? Thanks

    does the device manager show a COM port that appears when the arduino is plugged into the computer and disappears when the arduino is unplugged? – jsotola Feb 07 '23 at 22:20
