Im working of a model of a clamped steel hollow section column, which is stressed by a local fire. I would like to map the case of fire by area with a constant temperature. For this I have set the step type: Heat transfer (steady-state). Then I applied the load to the model with the load type: Surface heat flux. Convection and radiation are taken into account via the interaction. In the results, it now shows a significantly higher component temperature than I defined as a load. Can someone help me with what I can set so that Abaqus only transfers the load temperature to the component. (load temperature=component temperature)?

Many thanks for your help

  • a heat flux is like a force and a temperature is like a displacement. you set temperatures with boundary conditions, not forces. – will Feb 21 '23 at 23:08
