Efficiency of TurboJet engines with nozzles

As per Bryton Cycles, most of TurboJet engines' Thermodynamic efficiency should be around 40%. Rest of energy gets rejected as waste heat in exit gases of after the turbine. But if these hot gases from the turbine are passed through Nozzle of 95%…

Do stators in axial flow compressors have airfoil geometry?

In axial flow compressors the role of a stator is to gradually change the direction of flow to exchange some of the kinetic energy of the flow into pressure. Therefore it stands to reason that they do not require an airfoil shape, since they're not…

Basic dimension relationships in a valveless pulsejet engine

I'm willing to take my own shot at the construction of a blast supercharged valveless pulsejet, a holy grail among DIY jet enthusiasts. However, since my idea is not very compatible with the geometry of most popular pulsejet engines, im going to…

Does air pressure difference of intake exhaust contribute to jet thrust?

I know momentum of the airflow inside jet engine generates thrust, but what about the pressure difference in front of and at the back of the engine? The air sucking intake at the front has lower than atmospheric pressure and the exhaust has higher…

In the process of spraying liquid from the nozzle, must the pressure at the outlet of the nozzle be equal to the atmospheric pressure?

During my studies, with high Mach compressible fluids, I always set the outlet pressure to 1 atm. In that case I can roughly calculate the exit velocity. However, in the case of steady flow, is the outlet pressure still equal to 1 atmosphere? As…

Please explain engine thrust and aircraft weight

This is probably really easy for someone... But... My non-engineer head just cant seem to get an answer to this question in terms that are simple to digest. A new Boeing 777X has a max take off weight of 775,000 lbs. It has 2 GE9X engines capable of…

Is it true that pre-jet air planes used to fly much lower? If so, why?

I watched a video on the Concorde the other day. In it, they talked about the history of airplanes, and how the jetplanes now started flying "above the weather", and that the propellar-driven commercial aircrafts prior to the jet era had to go…

Effect of speed of turbo fan in bypass jet engine

Why do we keep speed of turbofan of turbofan jet engine, low. And what is the maximum thrust a turbofan jet engine., how much can thrust a turbofan jet engine produce with just compressed air.
